Pillow Talk

I can assure you that this post is not heading in the direction that you think it is.

There have been a few times this summer I've woken up in the middle of the night to find Marc and I sharing a pillow...always my pillow. Sometimes I think this is beyond adorable. Sometimes I wish he'd move over.

Two weeks ago I was sleeping peacefully in the middle of the night when all of a sudden my head dropped down about three inches. It was a startling way to wake up. I was less than pleased. I quickly realized that my pillow had been pulled out from under my head. Who would do this?! My loving husband who, in his sleep, had taken my pillow. I tend to be a very angry person when my sleep is interrupted (in my defense, I get very little of it and cherish the time I get). I reached over and grabbed a  fistful of my pillow and yanked it back. No luck. I was at a weird angle and Marc apparently has a very heavy head. I propped myself up on my elbow to get better leverage and yanked again. Success. Except Marc woke up.

Marc: "Hey! Oh I took your pillow. Where is mine?"
Sara: "I don't know"
Marc: "Oh I'm holding it".

Marc had been hugging his pillow. The best part is Marc hardly remembered this series of events (if Marc is even remotely sleepy he is incapable of remembering anything you say to him/he says to you). The next evening we walked to the mailbox and he goes "Why did you yell at me this morning?" I responded, "You took my pillow." Marc: "*laughs* Oh yeah, that was funny. I don't think I responded.

Then last week happened. At 3:41am I wake up to:

Marc: *whisper yelling* "Sara. Sara!"
Sara: "What?"
Marc: "Do you know where my pillow is?"
Sara: "If it's not under your head then I'm fresh out of ideas. Don't take mine."
Marc: *looks on floor*, *looks at torso* (to see if he was hugging it again), *looks on floor again* "Got it!*

Luckily we were able to fall back asleep, each with a pillow, until the alarm went off a few hours later.
